Background of Boalmari upazila
The ancient area Bhusana thana was shifted to Syedpur in 1812 and Boalmari  thana was established in 1814. At that time Boalmari Thana was formed with 19 unions but later Bana and Pachuria Unions were included in Alfadanga Thana and in 1983 Madhukhali Thana was formed with 6 unions from Boalmari and 3 unions from Baliakandi Thana. At present Boalmari upazila consists of 11 unions. The unions are Ghoshpur, Satair, Chandpur, Dadpur, Boalmari, Chatul, Parameshwardi, Shekhar, Rupapat, Maina and Gunbaha.
